THE BROWN FAMILY

Descendants of James BROWN and Mary Goodwin Sergeant MOSS.

My original research indicated that James was the son of Andrew BROWN, who arrived in Port Adelaide, South Australia aboard the "Fairfield" on 30 Apr 1839, and Jane PENTLAND, who arrived aboard the "Emily", on 28 August, 1847. Stuart Brown, who is a descendant of Andrew and Jane, has given me further information that now leads me to believe that this information (which can be seen elsewhere on the internet) is not correct.

I do know that James was the son of an Andrew Brown. However, at this stage (13 February, 2010) I am now waiting for a copy of James' death certificate to arrive, so that I can establish his place of birth, and then research his ancestry more fully.

      d. 26 Jul 1973, Adelaide, South Australia.
      Auntie Jessie never married; her fiance, Wilhelm Otto Carl SCHMIDT, d. 27 Jan 1920, aged 30, is buried at "Silverlea" with her father.
      A Note: Theodor Otto Schmidt, son of Franz and Auguste (nee Graefe), d. 5 Jan 1922, aged 29, is buried at Swan Reach. I believe Theodor was not related to Wilhelm, as family lore says that Wilhelm died leaving no living relatives. However, I have been unable to find anything further about the Schmidt family.
